This is GIF 89a animation.

To use these, you must save the animated image so you can use your own copy. This is important (explanation below). Do this:
  1. Point the mouse at the animation
  2. Hold down the (right) mouse button and select "Save this Image as..."
  3. Give the image a name and save it to your disk
(On some platforms, you can drag and drop the animation off the browser window to save it.)

Place your copy of the animation on your webpage the same way you can place any image. You do not need anything extra to make it animate for Netscape 2.0 or better (other browsers see a standard icon). Here's how to place it on your page: For instance, if you want to use one called fred.gif, do this:

  1. put the image fred.gif in the same directory with your page
  2. put a line on your page that says
    <img src="fred.gif">
It's easy! You can also watch the animation offline by opening it with Netscape  - just choose "Open File..." under the File menu and locate the image.

(on some platforms you can drag and drop to the browser window to open it).

At MMMM, the animations are kept in temporary directories which are often moved. It's okay (though not necessary) to link back to MMMM Central at
http://www.teleport.com/~cooler/MMMM/
but please don't link directly to any particular animated image (you'll lose it when we move directories and it's also unnecessary work for our server). Make the animation yours!

We suggest that you use the icons sparingly. Having too many on the same page may cause problems and can certainly make concentration difficult.
